HE CHANGED 180 DEGREES

THE MOMENT SAYED JUMAA GOT MY COMPLETED WORK FOR NOOR-AL-BAYAN IN HIS HANDS, HE CHANGED 180 DEGREES IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ABOUT ME. -SaLee Amina

Dear Muslim Brothers & Sisters,

Although I may LOOK quite young, I am, in fact, nearly 70 years old! I have children almost as old as Sayed Jumaa (although he looks old enough to be my father!)

So, I apologize that I NEVER proof-read my e-mails, and I toss them off very quickly, with slightly failing eyesight. So, please forgive the occasional typographical error.

I think the CONTENT of this situation is something IMPORTANT. When one stands before Allah, we must know that we are held responsible for everything in our lives. And when we pray behind an Imam, we WANT to know that we are following someone who is rightly guided and who has strength of character, quality of temperament and who is someone from whom no Muslim would fear any harm or maligning.

I can NOT say that Sayed Jumaa lives up to those standards, based on what I know, what I have personally experienced, what I have seen with my own eyes and what he has admitted to me (including bankruptcy, having abandoned family, meeting with unmarried women all alone in his independent office, creating a dating website – then shifting it [& all of its thousand of dating subscribers] to an alleged “Islamic” website about Sayed Jumaa, and multiple other acts that made me very uncomfortable.)

As for me personally, I watched him continually praise me, commenting repeatedly how deeply he respected me and admired me — all up until he conned me into believing his false promises, and extracted a lot of work out of me on Noor Al-Bayan, which had taken away from my income producing activities, and which caused me to turn away commitments even to my own family. His promises to pay me were false. His promise to have my name on the cover with his was false. His promise to share with me the money from sales of the ‘fruit of my labor’ was false, & the promise to do other books together was false (although NOW, I have realized that his name would ONLY be a DETRIMENT to me, and I want nothing to do with him. Also, I am boycotting the Reseda mosque because Aref Abedi, the Director, fully knew about the wrongful situation, but failed to correct it, and is seemingly sharing in the financial benefit from donations solicited via Noor Al-Bayan.
That was quite a disappointment, because I had known Aref for decades, long before Sayed Jumaa was Imam there.

THE MOMENT SAYED JUMAA GOT MY COMPLETED WORK FOR NOOR-AL-BAYAN IN HIS HANDS, HE CHANGED 180 DEGREES IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ABOUT ME.

This made me realize what a phony person he is. As for Aref, he admitted that they wanted to use me to get donations from the wealthy Princes in the Arabian Gulf countries, with whom I have had close business ties for nearly forty years. Why would I want to help a mosque that is just “using” me. In fact, when a delegation came from the Gulf, and we toured the mosques in California, along with my dear friends who have now passed away, Dr. Ahmed Sakr (of Walnut, CA) and Mertze Dahlin (of San Jose – South Bay Islamic Association), we specifically AVOIDED giving any money to Islamic Center of Reseda, based exclusively on the fact that I was CHEATED by them! WHY should I HELP people who seem to me to be in some ways acting like thieves and deceivers and money-hungry greed-mongers? Personally, I do NOT like to cause people problems, and in fact, I restrain using my power to harm anyone, even when they sometimes deserve it. But, the truth is that sometimes we come to a point of having to weight whether it is MORE harm to the Muslim community to allow corruption to continue. In that case, are we OBLIGATED to take action against those who are undermining the integrity of Islam and betraying the trust of the Muslim community.

I am certain that Allah knows I have done all that is possible to restrain myself from even the slightest revenge or retaliation for the fact that I was cheated & ripped off.

This is NOT a matter about the money owed to ME. It is about integrity. I would like to think that an Imam should be a person above reproach, and that simply is NOT the case here.

I had previously supported the leadership of Aref Abedi at that mosque for decades, but he fully KNOWS the situation, and I am sorry to observe that it now seems he is “in bed” with Sayed Jumaa; as so commonly happens in matters where there are more than one person’s hands “in the cookie jar.” So, WHERE has all the money gone????????????

Want to find a crook? Follow the money. Many of us Muslims are now curious, aren’t we? Let’s see an accounting. Open ‘the books’ to scrutiny. How about it?
